Accessibility
How I work to keep this site and my sessions usable for everyone.
My Commitment
Highly Sensitive Therapy and Wellness is committed to making this website and my virtual sessions usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, captions, or reduced motion settings.
I treat accessibility as part of the care, not as a separate compliance task. A site that is hard to use is a barrier to reaching a therapist.
Standard I Aim For
I work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the target I design and build against, and I review pages against it as the site changes.
I do not claim the site is flawless. Where I find a gap, I fix it and note it here if the fix will take time.
What I Have Built In
Text that can be resized and reflowed without loss of content. Color combinations chosen for contrast rather than decoration. Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images. Headings in a real order, so a screen reader can navigate by structure.
Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus state. Forms have labels tied to their inputs. Motion and reveal animations respect the operating system reduced motion setting, and no content is hidden from visitors who have JavaScript turned off.
Accessibility in Sessions
All therapy happens over HIPAA-compliant telehealth video, which removes the physical access barriers of a building but introduces others. If you need captions, a slower pace, a phone session instead of video, written summaries, extra time to respond, breaks, or a specific format for scheduling reminders, say so and I will arrange it.
You do not need a diagnosis or documentation to ask for an accommodation, and asking will not change the care you receive.
Known Limitations
Some third party tools used for scheduling, video, and payments are not fully under my control, and their accessibility may differ from this site. If one of them blocks you, contact me and I will find another way to get you to the same place.
Tell Me What Is Not Working
If you run into a barrier on this site or in a session, I want to hear about it. Please include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser, or assistive technology you were using, if you know it.
I aim to respond within three business days. If a fix will take longer, I will tell you what I am doing and offer another way to get the information or service you needed.
